My gf and I loved SoD, and accomplished everything we could as groupers. We got Void F and full tier 5 gear for her War/Bst boxed duo and my Bard/Shm. With merc help, we methodically did almost all of it on our own, except for a few events done with friends. Once we finished, we helped others and then got bored, so we leveled up some alts while waiting for UF. Two weeks into it, we can see that UF is definitely harder than SOD, but we are nonetheless making steady headway. We learned early on, after too many wipes, that we were simply not ready to tackle the named in Cooling Chambers, and even some in Brell's Rest. Even CC's yellow-con undead trash were a pain to be avoided (for now). Clearly, the war needed more AC. So, we played the boomerang MM many many times (fortunately, we enjoy it). All silver tokens went to the War. Thanks to Gilbot, she now has nearly a full set of non-visible tier 6 gear. Also, Slurid and Angram (with necro help) graciously donated tier 6 chest and legs to her must-have fund. This gear is clearly making a difference. Weapons are also a priority. Bermax handed over a nice H2H to the Bst and the War is now 10 gold tokens shy from getting Gilbot's evolving Sword of Brell's Ire. Those weapons (and more) will also help alot. With only that gear, we have managed to complete 13 tier 6 tasks/missions so far. We expect to finish Pellucid Grotto's progression mission (Seeding Frenzy) in the next day or two. Pellucid is definitely in our sweet spot, mob-wise, with blues easy and yellow-cons requiring back-up Shm heals whenever the War's siren merc gets distracted by another newly discovered split end. She is too vain... The most satisfying win so far involved capturing the soul of poor Eldinn (for Paradise Lost). For a peacenik dreamer, he sure packs one helluva kick. No matter where we engaged him, that kick ended up with us cold dead, deep in a pool of water. Finally, we wised up and pulled him halfway down the river where we could control the terrain. He gave up the ghost. Some day we will make Tasnise pay for having us do that. From time to time, we pulled some nervous friends into the expansion with us. Whether killing trash or named, or just fooling around kiting/root-rotting yellow-cons in CC with a necro, adding more good folk just seems to improve our results and our fun. We suspect some missions will simply not be doable for us without the help of other groupers (especially enc), but we will see. So far? UF is harder than SOD, but doable, at least for us. Boxing is trickier now, and we have to be more on our toes with CC and spot shammy heals, but that's ok. We might wish the cleric merc scaled up a bit better and that CC named/undead were scaled back some, but as long as we can continue to move forward, we will keep at it and enjoy getting it done. We would love to hear tips and stories from other casual groupers that are making good things happen underfoot.
